If it is Darkmoon Faire, I love farming for plaguebats. This is because they have a pretty high drop rate for Evil Bat Eyes which is one item you need for a Darkmoon Faire quest. They sell for about 2 gold for a bat eye but on top of that, they drop vendor trash.
2. Westfall
There are Southsea pirates in this area (Lost Rigger Cove) that you can find in the east which can be found in the spot (72,44). The pirates here are relatively easy to kill since they are level 43-45. Expect to collect items such as silver, mageweave, and even blue or purple items.

3. Winterspring
There are actually a few great places to farm in Winterspring. One such area is in (67,40) where you can farm Ice Thistle Yetis. If you are a skinner, I highly recommend checking this area out because you can skin the Ice Thistle Yetis for their rugged and thick leather. This would be an addition to the vendor trash and green items they drop.
Important Points
These areas are effective in how to make gold playing world of warcraft but there is one major drawback. These areas took so long to farm the gold I wanted. Farming in general tends to be pretty time intensive. I got pretty frustrated because I would farm for hours just to see a few pieces of gold.
